StandFree laments for the Venezuelan people

First, the facts…..

  1. Chavez signed a law giving him broad lawmaking power. He now has the power to make law by decree. “We are increasing power, but it’s the power of the nation, national power. It’s not anyone’s personal power,” Chavez said at a news conference Thursday.
  2. Calling Bush “more dangerous than a monkey with a razor blade,” Chavez was quoted as saying, “I pray to God for the people of the United States. I hope they’re capable of liberating themselves from the tyranny they have. Who would be the greater fascist — Hitler or Bush? They might end up in a draw.”
  3. The United States remains the leading buyer of Venezuelan oil.
  4. Chavez plans to nationalize the country’s leading telephone company, the electricity sector and lucrative oil and natural gas projects.
  5. “There are no reasons of any kind for the Venezuelan people to be afraid,” he said.

A few points need to be made about the above information……now the opinion…..

  1. It’s not anyone’s personal power, yet somehow Chavez is now a billionaire. That would be lie #1.
  2. More comparisons of Bush to the most evil man in history. All this does is make the speaker look fit for the looney bin.
  3. This is puzzling. Why do we continue to support a country that is taking away the freedoms of its people? We are enabling Chavez to do just that.
  4. Five and ten years from now….mark these words. The people of Venezuela will be much worse off than today. Any socialists and communists out there who truly believe that the system works take a gauge right now. History has proven 100% of the time that curtailing social and economic freedom works against the well-being of everyone in society. Communists have always failed and will continue to do so compared to a free society.
  5. Only if they a) leave the country or b) don’t care about their well being.

StandFree.org is deeply saddened for the real people of Venezuela. This is not a game and lives depend on government. In this case, years from now we will see the economic toll taken on the very real Venezuelans and wonder when the world will understand that freedom is the key to the well being of all people regardless of economic status.
